Update on MancakeSwap

Dear PancakeSwap community,

We would like to provide you with an important update regarding MancakeSwap, the planned PancakeSwap affiliate on Mantle. After careful consideration, the Mancake team and The Kitchen have made the difficult decision to discontinue the project. This decision stems from the shifting market conditions and the challenges faced in achieving the right product-market fit for MancakeSwap.

While MancakeSwap did not come to fruition as initially planned, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for the time, effort, and enthusiasm shown by the Mancake team, the Mantle team, and all of you in the community. Your support, feedback, and engagement throughout this journey have been invaluable. We truly appreciate your commitment.

Although this particular initiative is coming to an end, PancakeSwap remains as committed as ever to pushing the boundaries of innovation within the DeFi space. We will continue to explore new and exciting opportunities to bring value to our ecosystem and our users.

Thank you for your continued support, trust, and dedication to our community. As always, we remain open to feedback and questions, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

Hello! …
Speechless…

I am honestly very disappointed considering that this was a benefit for the PancakeSwap ecosystem and as the first affiliate.

Meanwhile, I wonder the real reasons behind this decision.

Was Mantle not the right network for this launch? Mancakeswap team does not meet minimum requirements? Was a proper filter not made?

I honestly think that if PancakeSwap, through its own channel or through the affiliate system, was launched on networks that currently have a high trading volume or are more trending, it is possible that it could be a successful project and take PancakeSwap to the top.

I understand that the kitchen’s workload is quite and sufficient, but it is the same way that resources are allocated through our own Cake currency, and even many times “at the kitchen’s discretion” so I frankly do not see the need to require “third parties/affiliates” for a launch of this type.

But I personally have many doubts about this.

What exactly triggered this decision considering that the “airdrop” was already planned? And the other thing, what specific resources did the kitchen use/spend on this “failed” project?

Also, it is not very clear according to the latest statement from the mancakeswap team on X… Is this final or is it a “pause”?

I feel again that certain things such as absolute transparency are being left aside considering that this project was accepted and voted on through the voting system implemented for such purposes.

Now, wouldn’t it have been the same way to take the end of this project? through an on-chain vote and explaining each point of the decision to continue or not, it is finally a decision that was made behind closed doors - as has been happening lately - which essentially loses the meaning of voting and governance and sadly I would not be surprised if tomorrow they remove the voting option.

Also, as a comment, note that the burning of “Mondays” was significantly delayed this time, and the same has happened on other occasions. Changing this slogan “Monday” to “weekly” has not been considered, since it also lends itself to confusion and lack of transparency, even though the uncertainty may be the same, but perhaps when there is a delay in burning, it is not the object of “paying attention” or even waiting for it to happen.

As an additional question, I would also like to ask if other possibilities or affiliates are already being evaluated for the moment.

I hope that this decentralized exchange will be able to position itself at the top again, I also have faith that greater transparency will be achieved, which is ultimately also an essence of the transactions themselves of the largest chains.

All of this is with much love, understanding that it is a surprise for the community and for the faithful daily followers of the ecosystem.

My best wishes always and a big hug,
Sorry for my bad English.

The delay in burning was related to a problem with Safe(multisig provider), which they were updating. The delay was announced on social media.

I appreciate your partial response to many of the questions. The delay was indeed reported, but not the cause.

Hey @TikiTiki, thank you as usual for the questions.

The main reason as explained is a lack of product-market fit. As seen in DEXes in other ecosystems, even for category leaders with decent volumes, their tokens are not always the best performers. Also, each affiliate deployment requires some level of contribution from The Kitchen’s BD, Ops, and Tech teams for advice and support, so we need to make sure our resources are spent efficiently.

This does not mean we will completely abandon our chain expansion plans. Instead, we will evaluate each opportunity carefully and are still open to expansions either natively or via affiliates.

Even as we close this chapter on MancakeSwap, The Kitchen is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to deliver value to our community. We recently announced our deployment on Monad Testnet, and v4 is right around the corner. We still have a couple of exciting updates that have yet to be released which I think the community will be hyped to learn about.

Also, with regards to the burn, @Juapia rightly mentioned that there were issues with Safe so it was delayed by a few days.
